Blizzard Ski and Snowboard School has been giving quality Ski Instruction since 1963.  Our goal is for the student to get the best result from our highly trained staff. As one of the oldest professionally organized schools in Michigan, we're proud to continue our time-honored tradition of teaching skiing and snowboarding to everyone, at all levels. Our programs provide lessons for Kids and Adults on Saturdays. In order to provide the best instruction, we require our instructors to obtain and maintain a national certification by the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and / or American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI).  We currently have; 16 Level III Instructors, 15 Level II Instructors, 29 Level I Instructors, and 5 National Ski Patrollers.

Their dedication to modern ski and snowboard teaching has earned Blizzard recognition as a Gold Merit School. Our philosophy is : Ski and  Snowboard safely, correctly, and for lifelong enjoyment. The Blizzard Ski and Snowboard School staff is an exceptionally well-trained group of professionals, with the highest percentage of instructors certified to teach at advanced and expert levels. We conduct weekly instructor training clinics  during the season and encourage our instructors to participate in outside education events as well. Since skiing and snowboarding is part technique and part understanding, our instructors also study the psychology of how children and adults learn. Once incorporated into the lessons, this approach makes skiing and snowboarding easier and more fun to learn.

Monica Schwanitz (pictured in news clip below) and Lydia Stewart both did the Michigan 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk in honor of Monica whom we all value a great relationship with. She has endured cancer treatments and still comes to help us. She always has a radiant smile and loving attitude toward everyone. Help support Her and Lydia via the following link.

Skier's Helping Kids

As many of you have come to know, Blizzard's Takes on the role of giving back to kids every summer. This year TEAM BLIZZARD a group of 40 Instructors and sports enthusiast participated in a three day, 300 mile bicycle ride to benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation. We raised over $41,000 to help these kids of make a wish. These are kids dealing with life threatening or terminal illnesses. The gift a child receives helps them enjoy a few days of life, which we have a lifetime to accomplish. The funds raised here are truly beneficial to the families of Michigan children. Caring for a handicapped child is a tremendous drain on families’ resources, both in time and finances. Families very rarely have the means to facilitate their children's dreams. This is where Make-A-Wish Foundation along with your contributions facilitates a child’s dream. Nothing can equal the joy of knowing you helped a child fulfill their dream. Thank you for all of your support.
